                     Reconciliation of PI-21 and PI-22

The Chairman, EOBI while discussing the issue of reconciliation of PI-21 and PI­22 observed that it was disturbing to note that pension payments and pension authorizations have not been matched since the inception of EOBI. It not only has created uncertainty about the pension payments by the Bank but has put us in a situation that we cannot for sure say about the number of pensioners and the type of pension.

2. After detailed deliberation the following action plan was approved for cleansing and  updating pensioners' record:

2.1     All the "Pension Payment Control Registers" shall be page numbered and each page initialed by the Regional Head latest by 2sttl November 2005 which shall mean that no column in the register has been left blank/unfilled

2.2 Every "Pension Payment Control Registers" shall have the following certificate on its first page signed and stamped by the Regional Head

2.3 All the contents of the "Pension Payment Control Registers" including transfers to other Regions and stoppage due to death of pensioner shall be computerized, latest by 30ttl November 2005. Regional Heads shall submit a certificate to B&C Department on 1st December 2005 as mentioned on the following page:

Certified that all the contents of the "Pension Payment Control Registers" have been computerized and the backups have been sent to EDP Department on for updating the record. There are no missing serial numbers and the number of pensioners as per "Pension Payment Control Registers" and computer records tally which are as under

2.4 The Regional Heads shall submit a certificate by the 5th of every month mentioning the number and type of pensions sanctioned during the previous month, certifying that the record of these pensioners have been computerized and the backups have been sent to EDP Department for updating the record. A copy of this certificate shall also be endorsed to Reconciliation Department. On the basis of these, B&C Department shall submit a certificate to the Chairman by the 10th of every month, mentioning that all the Regional Heads have submitted the certificate of computerization of pensioners' record

2.5 The" Reconciliation Department on the basis of the certificate submitted by The Regional Heads and the updated record of the EDP Department shall verify/certify that the records have been updated and the increase reported by the Regional Offices match with the  updated record of the EDP Department

2.6 The Pension of those pensioners who do not turn up for twenty four months to the Bank branches shall be stopped and they shall be asked to revalidate their pension books from the respective Regions. EDP Department shall generate such lists every month and send it to B&C Department for further action

3. Employers and Insured Persons should be. appraised of the importance of switching overt to Computerized National Identity Card (CHIC) for grant of new pensions. CNIC should be incorporated In the existing EOBI Cards (PI-03) to make it possible to switch over to CNIC for grant of new pension from 151: March 2006

4. All the above mentioned directives are time bound and must be adhered to strictly. M&E Department during their routine inspections shall also inspect implementation of these directives
